LPCI School Council Meeting

  1. Welcome by Co-Chairs: A. Cohen welcomed Council
  2. Approval of the Minutes of the Meeting of February 27, 2012- Motion to approve A. Cohen and second by C. Poole
  3. New LP Council Website – update provided by A. Cohen. Website will be announced on April 27th  in the Eye.
  4. Student Council Report- Michael and Gregory
  • April 12th – Math contest held
  • School Play – Wind in the Willows – successful and enjoyable!
  • Sears Festival is a high school competitive drama program which LPCI has wonTorontocity. As a result LPCI’s production “The Wasp” will be going on to Provincial finals inNorth Bay.
  • Spring sports like badminton are well under way.
  • Leadership Conference is offered this Wednesday after school for anyone interested in the Athletic Council
  • Student Council Elections are coming up May 7th-11th.
  • Library will require all books back by May 18th.
  • Prom will be held May 25th
  • June 5th – moratorium begins
  • Exams – June 11-22
  1. Principal’s Report – L. Jovanovic
  • School is expecting an increase in students for 2012/13 school year to 1200 students. The Board is sending an expert to determine location of additional classroom. Staffing allocation for next year is been determined however as per Board policy will not be finalized until end of October.
  • Summatives have started.  Summative support is been offered to Grade 9’s.
  • If a student is taking 5 courses or less they  will not be eligible to attend the Prom. This is a decision of the administration.
  1. Keith Singer made an excellent presentation for Council outlining drug and alcohol issues for youth.  The Council thanks Mr. Singer for an excellent discussion. As a D&A councilor Mr. Singer is available to parents and teens.
