were on site inside the school Nothing to do with anything on site at the school.
The administration does not put out a communication unless the incident
warrants one. Administration follows the instructions and protocols of the TDSB.
If you do not hear from the administration, then all is good.
    j. Question: Can the administration address the students to let them know that
they are safe and quell the rumours? Response: No response. Topic changed
    prior to response.

k. Question: What is causing frequent police presence in front of the school if
nothing is going on? Response: There is nothing remarkable happening at the
school. This is an average year and LP is safe.
l. Question: Can you give assurances that the kids need the help to thrive on a
better path, that the TDSB and LPCI are trying to help these kids and there are
resources for all the kids? Response: I did not say students were involved in
what happened on Jan 13th.
m. Question: Students say that there is a gun at the school. This appears to be a
rumour. Will the admin address this rumour with the student body within this
week. Response: If a student approaches admin personally, MG will answer the
student directly. This would be one-on-one as opposed to organizing an
assembly or a larger discussion.

  1. Other Business

Question: Can we address the safety concerns with the TDSB to find out
why they do not allow our admin to communicate these incidents with
parents, students and the community.
Things can be done without violating people’s privacy or rights. Parents
don’t want names but do need clarification on incidents.
Suggestion to arrange a meeting with local police and admin to discuss
concerns. Suggested that further discussion be taken offline. Parent
Council will arrange a meeting next week to determine what action can be
taken, what action is feasible, what protocols could be in place regarding
communications around incidents, what parents can do to dispel rumours,
yet ensure accurate and timely information around student safety matters.
Send an email to Lana or Marni by Friday, to pull together interested
parents/community members.
Question: Can the council put out an email to ask parents to contact the
council if interested. Response: We do not have the capacity to reach
out to all parents as a council. We do not have “class lists”. Any efforts
for mass communication would need to be initiated through the admin
office. We can absolutely use our social media accounts, personal
contacts etc. So we need to get engagement on social media higher. Get
parents to follow us on Instagram. Every person at the meeting has been
asked to follow LPCI Parent Council on instagram. And get 5 friends to
follow. When the date of meeting is set up, an email will go out. Please
share the information for all interested in participating.

Next Meeting: Monday Feb 10, 2025 6:30p.

  1. Adjourn. Motion to adjourn. Passed.
