  1. Welcome Remarks
    a. Rules of Engagement
    i. Meetings are open to entire LP parent and family community
ii. Opportunity for council, administrators, teachers and students to update
community on what is happening at the school
iii. Parents can have their voices heard and ask questions.
iv. Goal is for the good of community and all discussions must be in
    respectful manner
  2. Student Council Report
    a. Valentine’s Day Event – Cupid’s Cafe will be Thursday Feb 13 (Feb 14th is PAday) Home Form Reps will bring baked goods/treats for students to purchase. United Artists selling roses. Valentine’s Day cards will be handed out.
    b. Please see weekly Eye on LP for United Artist upcoming events. Tickets for shows can be purchased through School Cash Online.
    c. Wellness Council is working on a proposal to obtain a grant for a Student Wellness Centre at LPCI. Discussion over approval of $5000 for Wellness Centre; however, waiting to find out what space can be used at LP.
Question: Where do we stand on getting the space in the school to have the
    Wellness Centre?
Response: Conversations are underway and a meeting is upcoming with the Wellness Council to discuss this further. School is limited on space. The meeting is primarily to identify the space.
Question: Are there parameters for how big the room needs to be?
Response: At this point we are looking for any room as we know the school is limited in space and classrooms.
Response (2): Customarily these rooms would be in a guidance office to allow for the supervision piece to be in place. Unfortunately, LP does not have that space available. The supervisor does not have to be right in the room but being in proximity is the goal for happenstance supervision.
  3. Principal’s Report
    a. Sheridan Hay, head of SS and Cdn World Studies is guiding LP through the process to become members of the UNESCO school network. We would be the first TDSB school to join. Certain parameters must be achieved by school to qualify. Advantage for LP is that it gives opportunities for students that are more international in flavour. Experience extends from the model UN that students already can get at LP, such as networking with schools around the world, attending international conferences, engaging in human rights or environmental programs.
    b. Let’s Pause Day – Feb 28th. Same variety of activities as last year, with some new ones. Skiing, as usual, is most popular, with about 300 kids participating. Staff are fully involved. Sign up deadline is today, but will extend for some activities to ensure every student can sign up. Trying to discourage students from using it as a day to stay home. Last year almost 1000 students participated, which led us to survey the students to assist our 2025 planning.
Question: Why is the skiing option closed already?
Response: Because it filled up already. Limited numbers on certain activities. However, I don’t want to completely turn that parent off, so please have student connect with Mr. St. George or Mr. Mandarino. If a student has cancelled, a spot may be open.

c. Bathroom update. 3 boys bathrooms are repaired and accessible. We do sometimes close and open one just to keep the longevity of those bathrooms maintained. But all are currently repaired.
d. United Artists. Kind of a fashion show, art show, dance show extravaganza.
e. Black History Month has a host of activities with the well-supported Black Student Alliance Family Dinner.
f. Course Selection 2025/26. Webinar on Feb 11 7-8pm with Christina Meyer and Guidance Team. Webinar is a great start to ensure you are choosing correct courses to work towards your diploma. And one-on-one guidance is always available to assist students.
g. General Questions
Question: What is the status of the pool?
Response: The pool has not been functioning since my arrival at the school – approx. 3 years. The pipes need to be replaced which is a sizable job which entails trades in the school. They had been bandaging issues for years to keep it working but that did not fix the underlying issue. Currently, I surmise that September 25th should be the outside date for the fix. It may be earlier. I will get answers for the next meeting.
Question: Opt out for online learning.
Response: On the school website there is a chart that outlines no of credits students require and what kind of credits. For opting out of online learning, please send questions directly to your assigned guidance counsellor. They can assist.

  1. Council Chair Update
    a. Student Enrichment Initiatives
    i. Never bricks and mortar projects. Must be initiatives that support student health and wellbeing; i.e. food insecurity; inability to participate due to funds
