  1. Welcome
    a. Approve Agenda. Motion to approve. Approved.
    b. Approve Minutes. Motion to approve. Approved.
  2. Student Council Report
    a. Haunted Hallway event – huge success. Thank you to all parents and especially
    Marni. Student participation was great. HH bakesale raised $280. Deciding
    where the money will be donated. 1?4 to DailyBreadFB. 3?4 to other charities.
    b. Movember – initiative to support Men’s Mental Health – selling mustaches. Cash
    purchase. Anyone wearing mustaches gets free candy.
    c. Charity Week – Monday – kickoff assembly with speaker from DBFB. M-Th at
    lunch all clubs and councils have booths with activities. Tickets for booths can
    be bought thru SchoolCash online. Also a silent auction. Still looking for
    donations.
  3. Principal’s Report
    a. Report Cards out this week.
    Question: Could you explain how medium marks are calculated – is it only that
    class or all sections? Response: Only that class. Not the entire section.
    Question: Does OSSLT count towards grades? Response: OSSLT(Literacy Test)
    does not count towards your grade. Pass/Fail. Must pass to get a diploma.
    Math EQAO counts for 10% of the grade.
    b. PT interviews were last week. Good attendance . Parents still welcome to
    connect with teachers and with school if unable to come last week. Send an
    email to the Principal and he will connect you to the teacher(s).
    c. Grad photos – end of November.
    d. Focus on University applications. Ramping up in Guidance. Guidance holding
    sessions and in the classrooms to support the Gr.12 students.
    e. Remembrance Day Assembly today. Poignant and modern
    Question: Was it recorded? Could it be posted for parents to view? Response:
    MG will look into that.
    f. Projects:
    i. Bike Racks: Work order in to move to another location.
    ii. Duct work in school is 90% complete.
    iii. Steam to water project – finalizing some details but work no longer affects
    students and student areas.
    iv. Library rebuild: Going back to studs and completely redesign. Start
    mid-June and be done by August/Sept.
    v. Turf on the field . TDSB is in negotiations. Question: Concern about no
    field for Fall 2025. Response: No discussion of doing it in summer. Tight
    timeline for Fall as it is. Question: Will it be a Rugby field only?
    Response: Field will be marked for many sports – not just Rugby.
    vi. Spark Hub: New ComputerLab/Multi-purpose room.

vii. Foyer is going to be renamed Alumni Hall – repaint and signage. Move
Alumni Archival materials into that space.

  1. Council Chair Update
    a. Direct Donation Campaign – raised the $15K Thank you to the community.
    b. Funding/Budget Allocation
    i. $25K to school from last year’s fundraising 80’s Craze event.
  2. Will inform community once we hear admin plans for the 25K
    ii. $10K Student Enrichment Fund – any extras that teachers/staff want to do
    to enhance the student’s time at LPCI. We will see if more $ needed
    depending on the no of proposals rec’d. First round of proposals due on
    Nov 14. Council committee and Admin review all proposals.
    iii. $5K Student Success Fund. Holding this to ensure that no student is left
    behind for any financial reason. Economic challenges cannot be a barrier
    to participation in any LPCI event/activity/team/basic needs.
    iv. $8K LPCI Scholarship Fund. TDSB has a program where we provide an
    allocated amount. The interest from the principal allows a scholarship in
    perpetuity. Scholarship would be $200 or $250. Still looking into all the
    details.

c. Spring Fundraiser refills the coffers for 2025/26 school year. This fund is put
towards next year’s strategic objectives.
d. Past Events:
i. Halloween Haunted Hallway
ii. Sr. Boys Football Team made the playoffs. LPAC hosted a hot choc and
bake sale table at the first home game. Raised approx $165 – going
towards athletic banquet
iii. Homecoming Harvest Bowl raised about $500 – going to DBFB.
e. Upcoming Events:
i. Holiday Tasting Tour – December 10, 2024 – 3rd annual Holiday Tasting
Tour. LPCI Gym(s) 5:30-7:30pm

  1. Purely community engagement event – not a fundraiser.
  2. Tickets $10 per person
  3. Multi-cultural foods from local restaurants
  4. Need volunteers to assist day before, day of, during event and
    cleanup.
  5. School council will manage the student volunteers.
  6. Approx 20 restaurants have signed up to participate.
  7. Looking for a Greek and/or Chinese Restaurant to participate.
    ii. Staff Appreciation Lunch – currently scheduled for Dec 12. Can this be
    moved to Dec 13th or move to the following week? MG will look at new
    dates.
  8. Thank you lunch for the teachers, staff, admin – everyone who
    makes LPCI run day to day.
  9. Parents sign up to provide lunch and assist at the event.

f. Wellness Fair – December 5th
i. Partnership happening with Safe and Caring Schools
ii. Lunch Yoga; Mindfulness; Safe Spaces – great things to come

    a. Please see a separate document for the report.
  2. Teacher Representative Report
    a. Mid-term report cards are available Nov 14.
    b. Plenty of extra help during lunch time Rm.306 open every day; Rm 108 MWF –
    Peer Tutoring – Senior students help all students in all subjects.
    c. Question: Are teachers aware of the deadline of Student Enrichment?
    Response: MG will send a reminder to staff for the Nov 14 deadline.
  3. Other Business
    a. Teachers can use Google Classroom or Brightspace – please ensure you reach
    out to the classroom teacher to ensure you are added.
    b. Next LPCI General Council Meeting – to be determined. No meeting on Dec 9th
    as previously scheduled.
